Tribe Records is proud to present a new studio CD by renowned producer Timmy Regisford which features a collaboration with South African vocalist Souljay muziq. Following on from the huge success of his first two albums – ‘At The Club’ and ‘Covers’ – released via Tribe Records, Timmy takes a journey to the continent of Africa for his inspiration. A long time supporter of African music having signed and worked with the extraordinary pioneer of Afro beat Fela Kuti. Timmy brings his heritage to the for front in tracks like Ingoma and Bathi Ndiyabanda. Jungle Man is a roaring instrumental that keeps climbing to a peak of drums and lead synth lines.
Souljay muziq features on 6 songs with very catchy lyrics and melodies synonymous with Timmy’s style of vocal songs. Whilst Regisford’s previous releases focused directly on vocals and the dance floor, ‘Umoya’ showcases an Afro styling that brings a new edge to his signature sound that you normally only privileged to hear in his exclusive DJ sets and live mixes. In a career spanning more than 25 years a DJ, A&R Director, remixer, club host and broadcaster, Regisford has worked with a huge variety of artists from Stevie Wonder to Steel Pulse, Blaze to Eric B & Rakim and New Edition to Diana Ross, and this open-minded approach to music has been given further influence on ‘Umoya’, showcasing aspiring African talent, Souljay Muziq.
Timmy Regisford was also one of the founders of the legendary Club Shelter parties which opened on the lower West Side of Manhattan just over 20 years ago. Club Shelter helped pioneer the soulful house music sound that has shaped the face of house music around the world, and the club reopened on a new site at 37 Vandam Street in December 2011.
